Breaking News: Comcast to Buy Local Man's Car
PEORIA -- In a move that shocked industry analysts, Comcast Corp. has purchased a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier belonging to Peoria man Adam Zeigler. Zeigler, a longtime employee of a local data center, was unaware that his car was being purchased by Comcast until he tried to collect his payment. “The man I was dealing with gave me a phone number to call. It took about 30 minutes to get a live person on the phone and then it took them another 45 minutes to find record of the purchase, but once we got through that, they said I should get a check in 6-8 weeks. ” He added that he was “pretty stoked” to get his asking price of $750.
Zeigler originally posted the cobalt blue Cavalier for sale on Craigslist, describing it as “a good little runner with tinted windows, a bra and decent alloy wheels.” A spokesperson for Comcast confirmed the purchase but would not specify what the cable giant planned to do with the Cavalier. One inside analyst speculated that the purchase was perhaps related to Comcast’s planned bid for NBC Universal and that the car would be used to shuttle small numbers of executives between Philadelphia and New York.
