{Family picnic, circa 1995? Snapshot found on the street in Portland's Chinatown,
with questions about the scene's signifigance or lack thereof. I didn't really like
this one at first, but now I see a few stories. That and and I want a Coke.)

That's kind of what I was thinking too, like a reunion with a less-than-present dad or uncle maybe, the suspicious matriarch watching from the side. I'm also wondering who's taking the picture.

Ummm, that would be me taking the picture, as usual. I always had to take the pictures, not be in the pictures. Nana Maria on the left next to my never-ending-El Stupido little sister Celeste talking to our, yes you guessed correctly, distant Papa, being given the evil eye by our Mama. If I remember it right Mama dumped that plate of food on top of Papa's head right after I snap this picture. It was the only time the stupido Celeste shut up all day.

That is older than 1995. Maybe about '87? Not a single flannel in sight, and the goatee's probably a leftover from before they came back (arguably) in style in the mid '90s and left quickly from fashion forwardness.

Except in Oregon.
